Thursday Tripping

by Corrine

I met up with Babe, who gave me these awesome goodies for Christmas! A Belle de Jour planner with a handwritten message inside from him. It’s always nice seeing the fruits of his labor so girls, go buy one and have it signed by Pao. Haha. Kidding! The Murakami books are great additions to my book collection too. I asked for Chuck Palahniuk’s Invisible Monsters and Haruki Murakami’s Kafka on the Shore but those books weren’t available so he bought these instead. <3

BDJ planner and Haruki Murakami books!

Oh, we had dinner at Tempura too. We stuffed ourselves with yummy Japanese delights. I had Gomoku Ramen and watermelon shake. Babe had some sort of pork or beef something. We also had Mixed Maki, Ebi Salad and that dish on the white plate which I don’t remember.

Tempura dinner :)

Second Christmas with Babe. Yay! :)

Holy Cow!

by Corrine

We haven’t seen each other for more than a week that’s why Babe and I decided to meet at Megamall on Wednesday. We headed on over to Holy Cow Steak Ranch and American Grill after seeing the enticing tarpaulin hanging outside Chinabank.

Holy Cow, SM Megamall

I ordered a well done Fillet Mignon Steak and root beer. I forgot what Babe, Wedan and Ken ordered though I clearly remembered it’s a cook-it-yourself dish (Ranch Style Porkchop, Beef Strips or Burgersteak). Jeck had Bean Master’s Honey Lemon Chicken. My steak was tender and juicy–cooked just right. I think the steak was supposed to be wrapped with a bacon strip but the bacon was set on the side. Nevermind that because the steak was awesome. By the way, I wish Holy Cow could change the size of their root beer mug. It’s too darn small!

ken and wedan (see the root beer float?!)

Babe and I ended up buying their 159-peso card that’ll be good for six months. It came with coupons for Tempura, Flavors of China and Holy Cow too. Babe is extremely fond of promos like that and I’m starting to like the idea too. You really get to save bucks in the long run. We also got a big-ass platter of chicken and onion rings (they ran out of fries) as appetizer for racking up a 1,000+ bill and availing of the rewards card.

Babe’s plate!

The boys were trying to figure out if Holy Cow’s fried chicken tasted better than those of 7-11, McDonald’s and Jollibee. The boys said Holy Cow’s chicken is better though Jeck said he still prefer Jollibee’s. :D I miss them WVH boys (I sound so ‘hood! Haha!). Their discussion over why cowboys are called cowboys when they ride horses in the first place was hysterical.

Wow, a decent photo! :)

I’ll be seeing them this Friday again for the WVH Christmas Party. I’ll be attending the after-party. Hooray!

P.S.
I apologize for forgetting to take photos of our food. I was so focused on eating! :D

How Mexican Food Failed To Save My Day

by Corrine
Today’s been a really sucky day. For one, Babe and I missed the dinner we were supposed to have with his old officemates because I finished way behind with work. Well, the thing is, I was ready to leave by 7PM and was about to head to the bathroom to freshen up when our GM went to my desk and–boom–asked me to edit several papers. Why oh why does work pile up when I have a freakin’ appointment/gimmick?!

The group dinner we were supposed to enjoy that night ended up with us meeting his friends at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf then leaving 5 minutes later to have dinner. Scouring the Greenbelt area, we ended up in Baja Mexican Cantina.

I loooove Mexican food. Just thinking about quesadillas make me drool like crazy-fuck. Haha. The place was okay, typical Mexican restaurant ambiance with wooden chairs and tables. Of course, the walls were decked with little blackboards filled with menu and surprisingly, movie screenings at the cinemas for the night. When we walked in, we were expecting the food to be extra delicious since the place was pretty much packed with customers.

But unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. The taco salad I had tasted more like tomato salad. It had nothing tasteful to offer–except when I drizzled the whole plate with hot sauce. Though it left my tongue scarred and numb for a good thirty minutes, it became a passable dish. I didn’t get to taste Babe’s burrito but he didn’t like it. He didn’t finish it. I forgot the other dish we ordered and I really don’t care ’cause it wasn’t anything special. Then again, maybe they have better meals to offer. Before we left the restaurant, Babe said that Mexicali served better food than Baja. Oh well. The good thing about this Baja is that it’s very affordable. Total damage that night was at around 800 pesos, excluding the tip. Haha. Mexicali’s a better choice when it comes to value for your money and of course, taste.

I know this is pretty much a pointless blog, but I really love Mexican food and I just had to blog about how disappointed I was that a Mexican dish didn’t save my terrible day.

By the way, I also have sore eyes. :|

Friday Night Bonding at Friday’s and Red Mango

by Corrine

Instead of hitting the gym, my best friend Kwin and I met up at Mall of Asia for a “quick” bonding time. :)

while waiting for our food

Let this be a little food “review” too since I really can’t say what Siz and I talked about throughout dinner. Haha!

I ordered Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Pasta and Strawberry Mojito. The shrimp was flavorful but the pasta itself tasted a little bland for me. It has a little spiciness to it but after a few mouthfuls, the pasta gets boring. The chicken, well, tasted like chicken. Siz loved it, though.

Ready to eat!

The best friend, on the other hand, ordered a mushroom+chicken meal (I forgot the name, sorry. Haha) and Classic Mojito. She opted for the rice instead of the mashed potato. She regretted it though because the rice tasted like tomatoes. I didn’t like the rice myself too. The breaded mushroom was dull, bland and boring.

she ate everything, except for the rice

Even though I didn’t enjoy my dish that much, I still love my Mojito. I always love Friday’s Mojitos. :) Next time around, I’ll opt for their salad again.

Siz with my favorite cocktail of all time!

Total Damage: 1570 pesos

After dinner, we headed to our favorite FroYo chain, Red Mango! :)

excited for your FroYo!

Total Damage: 290 pesos

I still think the best toppings are blueberries, kiwi and crushed graham. Siz thinks otherwise. She’s a huge mango fan. Haha. Photos of all the meals and other whatnot are with her so I’ll just update this post once she gets around to uploading ‘em.
