Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2: Liked It, Could Have Loved It

by Corrine
the magic ends?

First things first, I’d like to be clear here that I am a huge Potterhead. Just like the rest of the world, I grew up with Harry Potter. I remember seeing a boy classmate reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone during class and asked what the story was about. I can barely recall what he said, although flashes of “magic”, “wands, “wizards”, “spells” and “witches” were mentioned.

There was a lot of hype surrounding part 2 of the Deathly Hallows movie. Many were eager to see if their favorite scenes in the book made the cut or if they would actually film the epilogue bit. As for me, I just wanted to know the release date.

I booked two iMax tickets a week in advance to make sure we had the best seats. (Did I tell you how convenient it is to book movie tickets online these days? You got to check out SM’s bCode terminals!) I didn’t get to catch the movie on the day it premiered here in the Philippines, by the way. So I avoided Tumblr for a while after the premiere because friends would blab about the movie. :)

I Have Enough Of You In My Head

by Corrine

Dear Emma,

Those two words “Dear Emma” take me away to another time when we used to write to each other after Mom and Dad died. I used to tell you about my new friends and my new life. And you used to tell me about the grand time my mom and dad were having in heaven.

Truth is nothing. What you believe to be true is everything. And the main thing that I used to believe was that I would be with you forever. Forever. The reason it has taken me so long to write to you is that I see that I have been a fool. I’ve spent my life fooling myself.

Every letter I’ve ever written to you has been a love letter. How could they have been anything else? I can see now that all of them except this one were bad love letters. Bad love letters beg for love back. Good love letters ask for nothing. This, I’m pleased to announce is my first good love letter to you because there is nothing more for you to do. You’ve already done everything. I have enough of you in my head to last forever. So please don’t ever worry about me. I’m peachy. I really am. I have everything.

If I had one wish it would be that your life brings you a taste of the happiness you have brought to me. That you can feel what it’s like to love.

Your friend forever,

Will

I saw this in Tumblr and fell in love. It’s true what that letter said about bad and good love letters. When you write with pain, you worry about whether or not you’re gonna get a response. I take that from experience. But when you write with nothing but genuine love–just wanting to let that person know you love him/her–you don’t really care about receiving a written proof of his/her love too. You get my drift? :)

Anyway, I haven’t seen the movie (Waiting For Forever) but I’m currently DLing it.

Two Thumbs Up: Iron Man 2

by Corrine

My favorite scene from the movie

This, I think, is the first time that I watched a movie during it’s premier night.

I watched it with the boyfriend, Rod, Jeck, and Apple. We tried to get seats at The Podium but there weren’t any left except for the freakin’ front row. We went to SM Megamall instead. The boys bought 8:30 PM tickets while Apple and me bought something from Watson’s first. We rushed to the nearest food stall and bought four jumbo nachos and six slices of pizza. You should’ve seen how ridiculous I looked carrying four mineral bottles, two tubs of nachos,  and six slices of pizza–while texting! Talk about multitasking.

Anyway, it was an awesome movie! Robert Downey Jr. is indeed the perfect actor for that part. I can’t imagine any other actor who can play Tony Stark who is incredibly narcissistic yet adorable and sarcastic but hilarious.

The Monaco race bit was my favorite scene. I love Formula One so I was pretty psyched to see the race track and Robert Downey Jr. driving a Formula One car. Mickey Rourke was good too. His Russian accent was so effective. Haha. I was never a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow but I think she and Robert Downey Jr. looked good on screen, I mean, when they were arguing and bickering. As for Scarlett Johansson, I didn’t like her fight scene. She looked good fighting those guys though. Those curves are just to die for. :)

Boyfriend said that the next film would probably be about the Avengers because Captain America’s shield made a cameo appearance and Thor’s sword (was it really a sword?) at the end of the movie. Oh Captain Fury already made an appearance too.
